collecting my sounds;

When collecting my sounds, I decided to collect the majority of sounds before starting to edit in my audio. I found getting the noises for the robot most difficult so I used a lot of layered noises to create the noisy effect I wanted. I also found getting the audio for the footsteps quite difficult as wouldn't know what would match the steps I actually take on film. I recorded some foley for the noises I couldn't find such as the clothes rubbing together as I moved and the certain speed of texting. To the right are photos of my recording these noises. Overall I had a good collection of sounds.

Below are screengrabs from editing in my audio. My workflow consisted of going through my film and adding in the major sounds first. I created a fade out mainly in the beginning and end but also with sounds that get further away from the camera. One major example is wherever you can see footsteps, this gave a better effect that you are actually watching from where the camera is placed. I kept watching through my clips and finding places where I feel a sound effect is missing. I became quite good at chopping up pieces of audio to put together so it flows more inline with what is actually happening on the visual side of things. This process consisted of changing the volume of things a lot as when going back I kept thinking about how some sounds would've been prioritised over others but at the time were quieter. I adopted the approach of making the portal loud compared to the start of my scene as I did struggle to find sounds that alone, without the volume would have as much of an impact as to what was going on. This helped in showing the size of my tech as well as the power of each step he took was evident by how clearly and how loudly they over ruled everything else in the scene.
