Reflection on Practical skills so far [04/05/21]

In my FMP work, I feel aesthetic awareness is quite an important factor of what I am trying to achieve. So far I feel my best aesthetic awareness has been within the evidence on my website. I have gone with this simplistic purple theme and this certain text font to create a simple theme throughout my website. I feel it's easy to understand and well laid out. Within my film, I feel the strongest point of my aesthetic awareness, is in the effects. The blue and red theme, showing a good vs evil kind of stand-off provides a good, simple awareness. I also showed looking at aesthetic awareness when thinking about where I was filming, I made my room appear as I feel a more girly teenager would which gave a better aesthetic overall.

I could improve my evidence of aesthetic awareness by writing more about my scene and visual choices. Without knowing a lot of the choices we make when creating something visual are due to us not thinking it looks right or knowing it could fit in a little better. I feel if I think more deeply into why I am making my changes, I will discover a reason linking to this idea of making sure everything is aesthetically pleasing.

I feel that in my work so far, I am demonstrating a range of skills and knowledge. During this FMP I have aimed to create something which I can use everything I've learnt so far and have a place to apply this whilst also challenging myself to improve for the future. When looking at my website I think my processes of practical skills are displayed well and in depth, showing my ability to adapt to problems whilst also showing things I don't have much trouble with that I can quickly go through. Furthermore I feel I can see myself developing my independence in this subject as I become more confident and am able to solve problems by myself. On the written side of things, I feel you can see the journey my ideas go through, especially evident in the primary and secondary research tabs of my website, showing my ability to evolve my ideas.

Moving forward, I think I should make sure I am taking a lot of screengrabs of my whole process as sometimes when quickly experimenting with each visual effect, I don't grab each thing I tried so then when coming to talk about it there might be things I forgot I did when in the editing process therefore will forget to write about. For example when editing my speed-up, I didn't get screengrabs of the different ways I tried bring the clock on-top of the footage, therefore there is just a small sentence about the other ways I remember trying. I feel getting the whole process will show a bigger thought process.
